Annual Dinner Recognition Applications
2025 Laurens County Public Power Scholarship
The City of Clinton, the Laurens Commission of Public Works (CPW) and Piedmont Municipal Power Agency (PMPA) understand the value of an advanced education and also recognize the importance of community leadership. By requiring applicants to articulate their thoughts and opinions on this subject, we hope to develop future community leaders.
Applicants must submit the completed application form, essay, and two references by January 31, 2025, to qualify for the scholarship. The essay topic for 2025 is to answer the question, “What is Public Power and why is it important for our community?”
There will be two winners, one from District 55 and one from District 56. The winners will receive a one-time scholarship in the amount of $2,500 each, payable to any accredited university, college or technical college in South Carolina.
City of Clinton and Laurens CPW employees and their immediate families are not eligible.
Deadline: January 31, 2025 by 5:00 PM.
The completed application form, essay, and two references must be returned by January 31, 2025, to Amanda Benfield, abenfield@laurenscounty.org, Subject Line: Laurens County Public Power Scholarship Committee. The award recipients will be announced at the Laurens County Chamber's Annual Dinner on February 20, 2025.
Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award
Individuals who make the commitment to help others are essential links in bringing our communities closer together. The Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award pays tribute to individuals who use their time, talent and compassion to positively affect the lives of others in their communities or in the workplace. Recipients of the award help foster a culture of citizenship and service that acts as a catalyst for others to become involved in civic and social activities.
Deadline: January 10, 2025 by 5:00 PM.
The award recipients will be announced at the Laurens County Chamber's Annual Dinner on February 20, 2025.
Laurens Electric Cooperative (LEC) Community Initiative Impact Grant
The Laurens Electric Cooperative (LEC) Community Initiative Impact Grant, is a $1000-$2000 competitive grant, to be awarded to an organization(s) to support community growth and/or vibrancy projects to increase quality of life. Funds are provided by Laurens Electric Cooperative for the upstate Chambers of Commerce (Fountain Inn, Laurens, Mauldin, Simpsonville).
