Tell us about yourself.

My name is Justine Pronk. I am originally from Pennsylvania and moved here to South Carolina with my family in 2006. I now live in Duncan with my amazing husband of 10 years and my favorite little human, my 8-year-old son. I love spending my time with my family and my 3 nieces and 2 nephews. My family and I love to enjoy our free time on the lake, camping and traveling! I describe myself as an empathetic and positive person. I love to help others and put others first. The world can be discouraging and dark so it’s important to be a light to others!

 

Where do you work and what is your title? What do you like about your job?

I work at United Way of Laurens County, and I am the Event & Fundraising Assistant. I love my job, because it taught me a lot about a nonprofit and what it means to be an advocate for your community and what kind of help individuals need and what help is out there. It taught me the importance of volunteering and just what a difference we can make and having a job that is meaningful and rewarding.

 

What motivated you to become an ambassador for our organization?

Working at a nonprofit I see what a difference networking and joining other businesses and building a relationship with them can do and being able to be a part of an organization that supports that and allows me to get out of my comfort zone and continue to do those things outside of my workplace.

 

What makes Laurens County special to you?

I don’t reside in Laurens County, but the years I have worked here have shown me how much help I can do and have done here. My whole life I longed to help others and make a difference and when I see the needs of ones in Laurens County it makes it so easy to come to work and love what I do, so Laurens County does hold a special place in my heart.

 

If you could have any fictional character as your best friend, who would it be and why?

Since I was a little girl, I was IN LOVE with Tinkerbell… she shares my personality to a tee and when anyone thinks of her, they see magic and happiness. That’s what I want to bring to others and also who I want to spend my time and energy with. I want ones to see me and feel happy to see me and happy to have around. I just always want positive, loving and happy vibes and that is exactly what Tinkerbell is!
